How we started
We're builders just like you. Our focus has been on emergency vehicle location systems - all the firmware, microelectronics, sensors, traffic control, dispatch and machining it takes to produce such a system.
Our goal with this site is to bring that knowledge to you in the form of products, tutorials, and advice to help you get your project working and into action faster.
Every product on the ESawdust site has either been designed and used by us or is one we found, out of the sea of possibilities, and can recommend because we've used it. We strive to back every product we sell with a tutorial so you can see the product in action and know just what you're buying.
When we come across a product we need and we can't find a product on the market, we will make it. If it works well, we'll sell it, simple as that.
One example is enclosures. It was very difficult to find off-the-shelf enclosures for most prototype units. Guys like us who have small production shops were stuck. We might have production runs of 25-50 units and cannot always justify a complete PCB or specialized enclosure design for small projects. But, we still needed a good fit even if the boards we use are relatively standard, off-the-shelf equipment like the Atmel NGW100 or Olimex development boards. So, we design and make enclosures because that market is under served. We do it because we need it and we think you might, too, so we offer the products for sale.
You can see numerous other examples of custom electronic enclosures we've designed over the years. Contact Us if you're interested in any of these designs.
Take a Tour
Click on the image below to take a short tour of ESawdust and get a flavor of what we do and how we do it. It isn't fancy, but we get the job done. Who knows? It might even remind you of your own setup. Innovation in garages is not a myth we're happy to report.
We're a proud supplier to Sparkfun Electronics as well as customer and reseller of Sparkfun.
